• IPL: This value is available only for WAN/user ports configured with a DCE
interface and an SDLC or HDLC protocol. The unit provides two clock signals
exactly in phase: one on RS-232 pin 15 (V.35 pins V-X) to clock the transmitted
data, and one on RS-232 pin 17 (V.35 pins Y-AA) to clock the received data. This
clock mode may be required on an IBM 3174 controller when fallback is used.
NOTE: The Dual Serial interface card for the SDM-9360, SDM-9380 and SDM-9585
does not support IPL clocking mode.
Values: (Non-asynchronous ports): INTERNAL, EXTERNAL, IPL
Default: For DCE interface: INTERNAL
for DTE interface: EXTERNAL
Here are the possible settings of the Clocking Mode parameter for asynchronous ports
(T-ASYNC, R-ASYNC and asynchronous PPP):
• ASYNC: No physical clocking is used. This value permits sampling using the
internal clock on the NetPerformer processor.
• ISO-INT: Configures the asynchronous port with an internal isochronous clock
source. Here the clock is external to the data, but is generated by the NetPerformer.
• ISO-EXT: Configures the port with an external isochronous clock source. This
clock is external to the data, and is received by the NetPerformer from an external
source.
Values: (Asynchronous ports only): ASYNC, ISO-INT, ISO-EXT
Default: ASYNC
