On the 18th of November the prize-giving ceremony for the five winners of the fifth edition of the
“Mare Nostrum Awards”, promoted by the Grimaldi Magazine Mare Nostrum took place at the
Renaissance Hotel Mediterraneo in Naples.
The VI edition of Mare Nostrum Awards, (advertised in this issue of the Grimaldi Magazine Mare
Nostrum) fosters the advantages of maritime links, particularly the so-called Motorways of the Sea,
compared to other means of transport, especially overland.
The judging panel, chaired by the prominent writer and film-director Folco Quilici, voted the five
winners, to which a prize of 10,000 euros each was given, for a total jackpot of 50,000 euros.
The 2012 winners were:
Giovanni Russo for the article ”La rivoluzione delle autostrade del mare”, published on the
monthly magazine “Costruttori romani”; the prize was presented by Diana De Feo.
Carlos Solito for the photographic exhibition “SUD- Sguardi Uomini Donne” exhibited at the
Museo Diocesano of the city of Taranto in occasion of the show FOTOARTE 2012; Mimmo Jodice
awarded the young photographer.
Domenico Barbati for the article “Il business delle autostrade del mare”, published on the
newspaper “Il Mattino”; the award was assigned by the Managing Director of the Group Emanuele
Grimaldi;
Spyridon Roussos for the article “The Italian bet”, published on the Greek magazine “Efoplistis”;
the prize was given by Folco Quilici;
Ridha Maamri for the article “Passer à la vitesse de croisière”, published on the Tunisian
newspaper “La Presse de Tunisie”; Former Consul of Tunisia in Naples Brahim Aouam awarded him.
In addition to Folco Quilici, the members of the Mare Nostrum Awards judging panel were: Brahim
Aouam, former Consul of the Republic of Tunisia in Naples; Vassiliki Armogeni, Managing Director
and co-publisher of the Greek magazine Efoplistis; Michele Capasso, President of the “Fondazione
Mediterraneo”; Virman Cusenza, Editor of Il Mattino; RAI journalist Diana De Feo; photographer
Mimmo Jodice; Enric Juliana, Deputy editor of the Spanish daily journal “La Vanguardia”, and Paul
Kyprianou, former President of the European Ro-Ro Carriers Action Group.
The secretary of the International Jury is Luciano Bosso, journalist and Editor of Grimaldi Magazine
Mare Nostrum.
The event was presented by the popular RAI TV host Massimo Giletti.
