per molti di noi- rondini a stormi e piccoli rapaci dalle picchiate<br />

vertiginose.<br />

Siamo, se non l’avete ancora bene inquadrato, nel cuore<br />

del Salento, quel “tacco” d’Italia che scende tra lo Ionio e<br />

il grande golfo di Taranto. Bene all’interno, voglio specificare:<br />

perché il Salento è anche mare, un incredibile mare<br />

d’indaco che di rado diventa bianco di schiuma e di onde<br />

rabbiose; ma la Grecía salentina s’è ritirata dentro, dove<br />

la terra è più dolce e più aspra, dove le rocce e un tempo<br />

If you haven’t realised it yet, we’re in the heart of the Salento,<br />

in the heel of the boot of Italy between the Ionian Sea and<br />

the Gulf of Taranto. This is the hinterland I should point out<br />

because, though the Salento is also synonymous with the sea,<br />

an incredible indigo sea that rarely turns rough enough to spew
