Introduction – Company Profile<br />

SgT International Ltd. is a supply chain services company<br />

headquartered in Hong Kong with 20 offi ces in<br />

12 countries focusing mainly on the textile industry.<br />

The core business is quality inspections for textiles.<br />

In contrast to the conventional way, where the goods<br />

go through quality control in the country of destination<br />

SgT conducts the quality inspection in the country of<br />

origin. SgT operates 20 offi ces in 12 countries in Asia<br />

and around the Mediterranean Sea.<br />

Project Description<br />

The project is related to the internal business processes<br />

of SgT International Ltd.<br />

The Company uses custom tailored in-house software<br />

to control and run its core business processes. All operational<br />

processes are modeled within this software<br />

and SgT‘s employees in all countries rely on it for their<br />

work. The company wants to further strengthen and<br />

develop their software.<br />

Task Formulation<br />

The objective is to fi nd and document the existing differences<br />

between the real-world processes and the software<br />

and to create a solution concept including where<br />

the software and the real processes can be linked,<br />

which improvements could be incorporated in the software<br />

and which processes shall be reorganized. This<br />

includes the identifi cation of the root causes of problems<br />

as well as ideas to eliminate these root causes.<br />

Achieved Results<br />

One result is that the actual state has been analyzed<br />

and recapitulated on a single page, in use for staff training.<br />

The gaps and several root causes were found<br />

and a concept for improvement has been developed.<br />

Furthermore the solutions concept are successfully implemented<br />

or in the phase of implementation.<br />

Accomplished Workings<br />

During the project there were several tasks to cope:<br />

- Training: Introduction into operations, getting to know<br />

work fl ows/processes and the staff to cooperate with<br />

- Current Situation: Record and visualize processes/<br />

work fl ows<br />

- IT implementation: What is implemented in the software<br />

- Operational reality: What the staff really does<br />

- Gap analysis: Identify, record and visualize the differences<br />

- Causes: Identify causes for the gaps<br />

- Solution: Draft solution concept<br />
