1. INTRODUCTION<br />
The <strong>Integrated</strong> <strong>Transport</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> (ITP) prepared in terms of the National Land<br />
<strong>Transport</strong> Transition Act (NLTTA) 2000, for the period 2005 to 2010, has<br />
been prepared by the eThekwini Municipality.<br />
eThekwini Municipality covers approximately<br />
2300km 2 and is home to some 3.7 million people,<br />
just over one third of the population of KwaZulu<br />
Natal. It is by far the largest of the two<br />
Metropolitan councils in the province and<br />
accounts for 60% of economic activity within the<br />
province.<br />
The ITP consists of 15 sections as shown below.<br />
The full documented is supported by appendices<br />
some in hard copy format and others in electronic<br />
format due to the size of the documents.<br />
The summaries of sections 2 to 15 of the ITP highlight key aspects of each<br />
section in order to give a comprehensive but broad overview of the ITP.<br />
