7.9 Funding and Action Programme<br />

The eThekwini Road Safety Branch as the responsible implementing<br />

agency will put together the appropriate business plans incorporating the<br />

sector plans from education and enforcement.<br />

Table 7.3 describes some of the possible sources of funding for the 5-year<br />

Action Programme, that can and will be considered by the Road Safety<br />

Branch when compiling the annual business plan.<br />

eThekwini <strong>Transport</strong> Authority (ETA) Have set aside some budget for Road Safety<br />

<strong>Plan</strong><br />

Municipal Infrastructure Grant Link to facilities for non-motorized transport<br />

e.g footbridges<br />

National Arrive Alive<br />

ETA applies direct to Arrive Alive for funding<br />

Public-Private Partnerships Financial support from business in return for<br />

advertising space/exposure e.g. Toyota<br />

It comprises six sectors these being:-<br />

� Engineering<br />

� Education and community liaison<br />

� Enforcement<br />

� Emergency services<br />

� Campaigns<br />

� General<br />
