The research project that Marcus is undertaking involves bringing together all of the knowledge
that currently exists about the country at Oriners (and Sefton) Stations. Marcus works for the
government research agency called the CSIRO and the Kowanyama Land and Natural
Resource Management Office (KLNRMO) has asked Marcus to do this research following
consultation with Kowanyama people. This form gives Marcus permission to interview people
about what they know of the Oriners and Sefton areas. Marcus will combine the interview
material with information obtained from government and community archives to build up a
picture of how Oriners and Sefton have changed over time. This will help the KLNRMO
manage the properties properly in the future.
Marcus will put the information together in a digital database and write a report for the
KLNRMO. CSIRO will also want Marcus and his supervisor Sue to publish academic articles
about the project if possible. These will be based on the material in the database and report.
This is the first step in a longer research, planning and management process about the Oriners
and Sefton area, so other outcomes from the research may also be created. The CSIRO has
given Sue and Marcus permission to do this research. If you sign this form it shows that you
have given your permission for Sue and Marcus to speak to you and that they can use what
you say in the report.
The aims of this study have been clearly explained to me and I understand what is wanted of
me. I understand that it is my choice to take part and that I can stop at any time. I understand
that any information I give will not be shared without my permission.
