the same things, repeating themselves at every<br />

page <strong>of</strong> his<strong>to</strong>ry, ancient mediaeval or quite recent ;<br />

repeating themselves every day<br />

and homes. Nothing is new ;<br />

is fleeting.<br />

in our own cities<br />

all is stale and all<br />

Look <strong>to</strong> first principles ; and how can they be 2<br />

deadened, but by the extinction <strong>of</strong> the impressions<br />

<strong>to</strong> which they correspond ? and these you may<br />

continually kindle in<strong>to</strong> glow.<br />

On any given thing,<br />

I have the power <strong>to</strong> take the right view ; if so,<br />
