Summary<br />

Phase II will build on Phase I which developed<br />

and delivered a tra<strong>in</strong>-<strong>the</strong>-tra<strong>in</strong>er course cover<strong>in</strong>g<br />

an overview of youth drug <strong>use</strong>, prevention,<br />

treatment and cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g care, which was<br />

<strong>the</strong>n delivered <strong>in</strong> each country, and a tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />

manual on ‘Young People’ .<br />

Aims<br />

Accurate drug analysis will be <strong>use</strong>d practically<br />

to streng<strong>the</strong>n law enforcement capabilities<br />

<strong>in</strong> Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and<br />

Thailand (CLMVT) . Core staff of laboratories<br />

<strong>in</strong> CLMVT countries will acquire <strong>the</strong> knowledge<br />

and techniques on qualitative and<br />

quantitative analysis . Moreover, at least one<br />

drug analyst <strong>in</strong> CLMVT countries will acquire<br />

<strong>the</strong> knowledge and techniques on impurity<br />

analysis . Dur<strong>in</strong>g 2003 <strong>the</strong> JICA provided <strong>the</strong><br />

National Authority for Combat<strong>in</strong>g <strong>Drug</strong>s with<br />

laboratory equipment and tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g of NACD<br />

laboratory specialists .<br />
