program manager and <strong>Pacific</strong> Island police<br />

officer <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> South <strong>Pacific</strong> Chiefs of Police<br />

Secretariat <strong>in</strong> Well<strong>in</strong>gton, New Zealand<br />

• <strong>the</strong> ongo<strong>in</strong>g provision of specialised police<br />

tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g courses to foreign law enforcement<br />

agency partners <strong>in</strong> <strong>Asia</strong>, <strong>the</strong> <strong>Pacific</strong><br />

and <strong>the</strong> rest of <strong>the</strong> world .<br />

In late 2004, <strong>the</strong> AFP hosted <strong>the</strong> 3rd <strong>Asia</strong><br />

<strong>Region</strong> Heads of Crim<strong>in</strong>al Intelligence<br />

Work<strong>in</strong>g Group <strong>in</strong> Hong Kong . Delegates<br />

from 18 agencies <strong>in</strong> 15 <strong>Asia</strong>n countries<br />

participated <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> work<strong>in</strong>g group <strong>in</strong> addition<br />

to observers from seven o<strong>the</strong>r agencies who<br />

attended to provide <strong>the</strong>ir experience <strong>in</strong><br />

crim<strong>in</strong>al <strong>in</strong>telligence . The work<strong>in</strong>g group<br />

achieved a number of productive outcomes<br />

<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> form of broad regional development<br />

needs, strategies and potential projects to<br />

be pursued .<br />

In late 2003, <strong>the</strong> AFP hosted <strong>the</strong> 32nd<br />

annual South <strong>Pacific</strong> Chiefs of Police Conference<br />

(SPCPC) <strong>in</strong> Brisbane . Delegates<br />

from 21 member countries and a number<br />

of observers from o<strong>the</strong>r law enforcement<br />

agencies attended . Delegates achieved a<br />

number of important outcomes <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong><br />

draft<strong>in</strong>g of a strategic plan for <strong>the</strong> SPCPC .<br />
