shell resembles that of Lima in its composition and<br />

structure. Mr. Norman's cabinet contains a specimen<br />

having a longitudinal fold in the middle of the front<br />

margin, and resembling in that respect a monstrosity of<br />

Pisidium fontinale, which I noticed in page 26 of the first<br />

volume of the present work.<br />

This species is the Hiatella Poliana of Costa, H. striata<br />

of Delle Chiaje, and Parthenope formosa of Scacchi.<br />

Nardo states that it is the Tellina aperta of Renier.<br />
