England and in the Channel Isles, and also in the<br />

south and west of Ireland, in 12-20 fathoms, sandy<br />

mud. Being elsewhere local, I may mention that it has<br />

been taken by Forbes and M 'Andrew in 7-25 fathoms<br />

off Lundy Island, by Lyons at Tenby, by myself in 20<br />

fathoms at Fishguard, and by M'Andrew in 12 fathoms<br />

off Anglesea. Sir W. C. Trevelyan and the Rev. G. C.<br />

Abbes are reported to have found it at Seaton and<br />

Whitburn; but Alder suspects these specimens were<br />
