The classification of dams (with a safety risk) by hazard potential is outlined in Table J30.
The hazard potential rating for a particular dam is set at the highest level as determined
by the potential loss of life and potential economic loss. Classification is based on the
possible failure of the dam, without warning, on a normal sunny day. The final
classification ofdams with a safetyrisk (incorporating the relevant parameters), is provided
in Table J31.
