The above publication discusses grass species in forests and forest margins,<br />

as well as species found in compacted, shallow, fertile and sandy soils.<br />

Species typical <strong>of</strong> sweet, mixed and sour open grassveld are also outlined..<br />

Grasses found on old lands, and in overgrazed and over-rested veld are<br />

likewise listed. Summer and winter pasture grasses plus grasses typical <strong>of</strong><br />

the 11 bioclimatic groups are described. The following publication also<br />

provides a list <strong>of</strong> grasses as indicator species with regard to the general<br />

condition <strong>of</strong> soils, as well as species typical <strong>of</strong> soil and veld types: Du Toit,<br />
