Playing an iPod® Connected Directly to<br />

the <strong>AVR</strong>-<strong>4310</strong>’s USB Port<br />

• Music stored on an iPod can be played on the <strong>AVR</strong>-<strong>4310</strong> when the<br />

<strong>AVR</strong>-<strong>4310</strong> and iPod are connected by USB cable.<br />

• The <strong>AVR</strong>-<strong>4310</strong> supports the audio on iPods of generations 5 and later<br />

and iPod nano, iPod classic and iPod touch (not iPod shuffl e). For<br />

some models, however, some of the functions may be restricted.<br />

• The operation may not work properly if the iPod’s software is old. Be<br />

sure to use the latest version of iPod software.<br />

• With iPods, non-copyrighted material and material <strong>for</strong> which<br />

duplication and playback is authorized by law can be duplicated and<br />

played by individuals <strong>for</strong> their personal enjoyment. Infringement of<br />

copyrights is prohibited by law.<br />

• Note that DENON will accept no responsibility whatsoever <strong>for</strong> any<br />

problems arising with the data on an iPod when using the <strong>AVR</strong>-<strong>4310</strong><br />

in conjunction with the iPod.<br />

b When the iPod is connected directly to the USB port, menus under<br />

“Music” are displayed.<br />

b If the screens above are not displayed, the iPod may not be<br />

properly connected. Try connecting again.<br />

b When no control dock <strong>for</strong> iPod is connected, this can also be<br />

selected by pressing [iPod].<br />

4 Set<br />

the main remote control unit to the “NET/USB”<br />

mode (vpage 86 “Operating the Main Remote<br />

Control Unit”).<br />

b When no control dock <strong>for</strong> iPod is connected, this operation is also<br />

possible in the “iPod” mode.<br />

5 Press<br />

[SEARCH] and hold it down <strong>for</strong> a 2 seconds or<br />

more to select the display mode.<br />

b There are two modes <strong>for</strong> display the contents recorded on the<br />

iPod.<br />

Browse mode :<br />

This is the mode <strong>for</strong> displaying the iPod in<strong>for</strong>mation on the GUI<br />

screen to operate the iPod. In this mode, you cannot per<strong>for</strong>m<br />

operations directly on the iPod itself.<br />

z With the <strong>AVR</strong>-<strong>4310</strong>’s display, only English letters and numbers<br />

and certain symbols can be displayed. Any characters that<br />

cannot be displayed are replaced with “. (period)”.<br />

Remote mode :<br />

This is the mode <strong>for</strong> per<strong>for</strong>ming operations directly on the iPod<br />

itself while watching the screen displayed on the iPod. In this<br />

mode, the GUI screen is not displayed.<br />

z “Remote iPod” appears on the main unit’s display.<br />

b The Remote mode is not supported on 5th generation iPods or<br />

iPod nanos.<br />
