Loading Paper in the Cassettes<br />

The standard cassette 1 will hold plain paper, recycled paper or color paper.<br />

The standard cassette holds up to 250 sheets of Legal or smaller plain paper (80 g/m 2 ).<br />

Preparation before Use<br />

The following paper sizes are supported: A4, A5, A6, B5, Legal, Letter, Other (Folio, Oficio II, Executive,<br />

Statement, 16K and Envelope C5)<br />

IMPOR<strong>TA</strong>NT:<br />

• You should not use inkjet printer paper or any paper with a special surface coating. (Such papers may<br />

cause paper jams or other faults.)<br />

• When using media types other than plain paper (such as recycled or colored paper), always specify the<br />

media type setting. (Refer to Specifying Paper Size and Media Type for the Cassette 1 on page 2-36)<br />

The cassettes can hold paper with weights up to 163 g/m2 .<br />

• Do not load thick paper that is heavier than 163 g/m2 in the cassettes. Use the multi purpose tray for paper<br />

that is heavier than 163 g/m2 .<br />

1 Pull the cassette completely out of the machine.<br />

IMPOR<strong>TA</strong>NT: When pulling the cassette out of the<br />

machine, ensure it is supported and does not fall out.<br />

2 Turn the Paper Size Dial until the paper size you<br />

are using is visible. The paper size set here is<br />

recognized by the machine.<br />

IMPOR<strong>TA</strong>NT: To use a paper size that does not<br />

appear on the paper size dial, set the paper size dial to<br />

"Other". The paper size must also be set from the<br />

operation panel. For details, see Specifying Paper Size<br />

and Media on page 2-36.<br />

3 Adjust the position of the paper width guides<br />

located on the left and right sides of the cassette.<br />
