<strong>DOE</strong>/NNSA Awards. The Y-12 Complex also received three 2009 NNSA Pollution Prevention Best<br />

in Class Awards, one NNSA <strong>Environmental</strong> Stewardship Award Certificate, and three <strong>DOE</strong> E-Star<br />

Awards for the projects honored by the TCC&I. This is the sixth consecutive year that the Y-12 Complex<br />

has been recognized by NNSA for award-winning activities. These awards recognize innovation and/or<br />

excellence in pollution prevention and environmental sustainability stewardship efforts within the NNSA<br />

and <strong>DOE</strong> and are selected by an independent panel.<br />

Tennessee Pollution Prevention Partnership. Y-12 was awarded a TP3 Performer green flag by<br />

TDEC Commissioner Jim Fyke on March 17, 2009 (Fig. 4.15), showing Y-12’s commitment to positive<br />

environmental action through pollution prevention activities. Y-12 is thus far only the second government<br />

facility in the state to be awarded this honor. Y-12 documented five environmental success stories to<br />

achieve Performer status, demonstrating measurable results in pollution prevention.<br />

Federal Electronics Challenge (FEC). B&W Y-12 received a 2009 FEC Bronze Level Award in<br />

June 2009 which recognizes the achievements of FEC partners and their leadership in federal electronics<br />

stewardship. Y-12 was one of 16 Bronze Level Award winners. This FEC Bronze Award was specifically<br />

received for Y-12’s accomplishments in end-of-life management activities of electronics.<br />
