Using <strong>the</strong> printer menus<br />

Disabled Disables job buffering. Any jobs already buffered on <strong>the</strong> disk are<br />

printed before normal processing of incoming jobs resumes.<br />

Auto* <strong>Printer</strong> automatically calculates <strong>the</strong> Parallel Buffer size (recommended<br />

setting).<br />

3K to maximum User specifies <strong>the</strong> Parallel Buffer size. The maximum size depends on<br />

size allowed <strong>the</strong> amount of memory in your printer, <strong>the</strong> size of <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r link buffers,<br />

and whe<strong>the</strong>r Resource Save is set to On or Off. To maximize <strong>the</strong> range<br />

for <strong>the</strong> Parallel Buffer size, disable or reduce <strong>the</strong> size of <strong>the</strong> serial and<br />

USB buffers.<br />

Resource Save<br />

Job Buffering<br />

Purpose:<br />

To temporarily store jobs on <strong>the</strong> printer hard disk before printing.<br />

Values:<br />

Off* Does not buffer print jobs to <strong>the</strong> hard disk.<br />

On Buffers print jobs to <strong>the</strong> hard disk.<br />

Auto Buffers print jobs only if <strong>the</strong> printer is busy processing data from ano<strong>the</strong>r input port.<br />

Advanced Status<br />

Purpose:<br />

Note: Changing <strong>the</strong> Job Buffering menu item automatically resets <strong>the</strong> printer.<br />

To enable bidirectional communication through <strong>the</strong> parallel port.<br />

Purpose:<br />

Off Disables parallel port negotiation.<br />

On* Enables bidirectional communication through <strong>the</strong> parallel interface.<br />

To specify <strong>the</strong> parallel interface protocol.<br />
