And among those athletes who wrote the history of Pistol Shooting at
the Games, we should also mention the top participants, those shooters
who held the pistol for years, becoming legends. Such AFAnAsiJs
kuzmins, from Latvia, who competed under the URS flag in the past.
In 1976 he began to participate in the first of eight Olympic Games in
the events of 10m Air Pistol and 25m Rapid Fire Pistol men, missing only
once, at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, because of a boycott by team
URS. Or such as Pistol guru rAGnAr skAnAker, born in 1934, who
competed in seven Olympic Games as of 1972, when he won Gold at the
Olympics in Munich at the age of 38. The Swedish athlete turned out
to be one of the best and most consistent pistol shooters in the history
of the ISSF. Finishing on the Olympic podium in 1984 and 1988 again,
he then closed his success streak with a Bronze at the 1992 Barcelona
Games, 20 years after his first medal. Currently, he is still part of the
sport, as a coach and equipment developer. (Tables 3a, 3b, 4a, 4b, 5)
