Walther – now part of Umarex Sportwaffen<br />
– has new air rifles and air pistols for<br />
London. Both air rifle LG400 and air pistol<br />
LP400 were introduced just over a year ago.<br />
Both are modular type of guns which can be<br />
configured to many guises to fit shooter’s<br />
individual needs and preferences. Especially<br />
the air rifle has a huge number of options<br />
and accessories to choose from.Umarex<br />
owner and CEO Wulf-Heinz Pflaumer is a<br />
contended man:<br />
When I took over Walther in 1993, I figure<br />
we had a seven per cent market share. Now<br />
we have 30 per cent. Shooters are switching<br />
over to Walther ahead of the London Olympics.<br />
I believe one strong reason is that we<br />
have new, modern guns. Nobody has better<br />
guns than we! We export 70 per cent of our<br />
business. Some models are backordered for<br />
6 to 8 months.<br />

CHALLENGE E – NEW MATCH<br />
AIR RIFLE WITH ELECTR<strong>ON</strong>IC<br />
TRIGGER<br />
Austrian Steyr Sport has introduced a new<br />
match grade air rifle with electronic fire control.<br />
The name is Steyr Challenge E. The basis<br />
of this new rifle is the competition proven<br />
model LG110. The rifle weighs 4420 g in standard<br />
configuration. Barrel length is 650 mm,<br />
line of sight is adjustable between 750 and<br />
980 mm. Stabilizer system virtually eliminates<br />
recoil. The stock is widely adjustable and treated<br />
with a soft-touch coating. This provides<br />
good grip and warm feeling. The electronic<br />
single-stage trigger has a minimal travel and<br />
no free travel before or after the shot release.<br />
It’s weight is adjustable from 15 to 250 g.<br />
The Challenge is also available with normal<br />
mechanical trigger for conventional-minded<br />
competitors. Trigger weight is then adjustable<br />
between 50 and 250 g. The designator of this<br />
rifle is without letter “E”.<br />
