novelties or new gun designs, but most exhibitors<br />
had taken a good notice of the rapidly<br />
approaching Olympic Games in London.<br />

STRATEGIC ALLIANCE<br />
German ammunition manufacturer RWS<br />
belongs to Swiss-based RUAG Group since<br />
2002. RWS has recently formed an alliance<br />
with a Swiss indoor shooting range Brünig.<br />
The unusual thing about the range is that is<br />
inside a mountain in the Swiss Alps, at an altitude<br />
of 750 meters. And inside the mountain<br />
there is even a biathlon ski track and a shooting<br />
stadium! Brünig offers shooting ranges<br />
from 10 to 300 meters for pistol and rifle, 10<br />
to 50 m running target, a shooting cinema for<br />
hunters, a range for practical pistol shooters,<br />
archery range and a clubhouse, café and restaurant.<br />
The ranges are in three floors. In the<br />
longer ranges the scoring is done electronically<br />
by Polytronic equipment and ISSF compliant<br />
rules. There is no wind or rain inside the<br />
mountain. The temperature and humidity are<br />
constant. RWS supplies cartridges to the facility.<br />
Shooting teams can come to Brünig and<br />
test which RWS cartridge lot would work best<br />
in their 22 LR rifles or pistols. Visitors have<br />
come from Malaysia, China, Great Britain,<br />
Norway and Finland. City of Lungern is 10<br />
minutes away with hotel accommodations.<br />

IWA trade show took place for the 39 th time.<br />
The statistics set once again new records:<br />
1204 exhibitors, of which 75 per cent came<br />
from outside Germany, over 36000 trade visitors<br />
from more than 100 countries, 74380 sq.<br />
