The objectives<br />

In order to achieve <strong>the</strong> long-term industrial<br />

trans<strong>for</strong>mation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Clothing Industry <strong>the</strong><br />

LEAPFROG initiative will focus on 3 major<br />

objectives:<br />

A step-change in productivity, quality <strong>and</strong><br />

cost efficiency in <strong>the</strong> garment manufacturing<br />

process.<br />

A radical move towards rapid customised<br />

manufacturing in one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> most dem<strong>and</strong>volatile<br />

sectors through flexibilisation <strong>and</strong><br />

integration <strong>of</strong> cost-effective <strong>and</strong> sustainable<br />

processes from fabric processing<br />

through to customer delivery.<br />

A paradigm change in customer service<br />

<strong>and</strong> customer relationship management<br />

with a focus on value-adding productservices.<br />

Results<br />

The LEAPFROG Integrated Project was undertaken<br />

to develop concepts <strong>and</strong> technologies<br />

which would radically modernize <strong>and</strong><br />

ultimately trans<strong>for</strong>m <strong>the</strong> clothing sector into<br />

a dem<strong>and</strong>-driven, knowledge-based, hightech<br />

industry.<br />

The LEAPFROG research <strong>and</strong> development<br />

work has reached a number <strong>of</strong> its objectives<br />

to develop radically innovative technological<br />

<strong>and</strong> organisational solutions <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> (textile<br />

&) clothing business <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> 21st Century.<br />

<strong>the</strong> major results achieved in <strong>the</strong> project’s<br />

four Research Areas, can be found on <strong>the</strong><br />

website.<br />

The ef<strong>for</strong>t undertaken through <strong>the</strong> project has<br />

reached <strong>the</strong> potential to lead to an innovation<br />

<strong>and</strong> new business development cycle involving<br />

a great number <strong>of</strong> textile, clothing, machinery<br />

<strong>and</strong> service companies in Europe<br />

over <strong>the</strong> coming years.<br />

Several results will be available <strong>for</strong> commercial<br />

exploitation shortly after <strong>the</strong> project conclusion;<br />

o<strong>the</strong>rs require additional research to<br />

realize <strong>the</strong>ir full innovation potential <strong>and</strong> to<br />

bring <strong>the</strong>m as proven technology into industrial<br />

application.<br />
