Hazardous Location Installation<br />

7.3.5 DI (Digital In) Terminals<br />

The Digital In terminal is suitable for direct connection to a passive switch. No barrier is required.<br />

Connect only to passive (Un-powered) switch.<br />

7.4 Use in Dust Atmospheres<br />

Dust-tight conduit seal must be used when installed in dust hazard environments.<br />

7.5 Safe Guards for I.S. Barriers<br />

A device which has previously been installed without an approved I.S. barrier must NEVER be used<br />

subsequently in an intrinsically safe system. Installing the device without a barrier can permanently<br />

damage the safety related components in the device making the device unsuitable for use in an<br />

intrinsically system.<br />

8 Repair<br />

WARNING: EXPLOSION HAZARD – SUBSTITUTION OF COMPONENTS MAY IMPAIR<br />

SUITABILITY FOR USE IN A HAZARDOUS LOCATION<br />

Only <strong>Masoneilan</strong> qualified <strong>ESD</strong> service personnel are permitted to make repairs. The only replacement<br />

part offered for the <strong>ESD</strong> is the display cover.<br />

8.1 COVER (DISPLAY)<br />

Make sure that:<br />

The gasket is seated in the groove in the housing flange.<br />

No wires or retaining cable can be trapped under the cover flange.<br />

The flange area is not corroded and the surface is not scared.<br />

The four cover bolts are securely tightened.<br />

Secure the four cover bolts by applying a torque of 55±5 in-lbs.<br />
