PEI (DIN designation)
Polyetherimide (PEI) is an amorphous thermoplastic with
high mechanical strength and rigidity. Due to its characteristics,
PEI has a great affinity to the group of polyarylsuphones
(PSU, PPSU) but belongs to the thermoplastic polyimides
group. The material demonstrates a remarkably
high creep strength over a wide temperature range. PEI
also demonstrates a high long-term service temperature.
The characteristic profile is rounded off by very good hydrolysis
resistance and dimensional stability. Due to its
amorphous molecular structure, PEI is transparent and has
a golden yellow colour.
