because you look at the jails, our kids are incarcerated,
like way over, over-representatively. And how much does it
cost to incarcerate a kid for a year versus what if we put
that same amount of money into a youth leadership program,

How much does it cost to have a child in child

welfare for a year, you know, could you not put that into a

family support service instead?
And so I think it's how

we're, we're funding the deficit model.
And so like it

just -- I don't know how you flip it but it needs to be
flipped and I think, you know, that's where, where the work
we do, and we just feel like we're under-funded and like
funded at a lower level to do what seems to me the more
investment type work.

phrase this, but I looked up child protection's mandate and
it was interesting because it said that it was to build the
strengths to care for families and to create a good
relationship with a child and engage the community in

resolving issues.
And what I found interesting was that

the majority of kids that are in care now is under neglect.
And when I think of neglect I sit there and start thinking

of the system in neglect.
We don't have living wages, we

have really poor housing, we have really -- people living
