Colored Media<br />

Colored media should be of the same high quality as white<br />

xerographic paper. Pigments used must be able to withstand the<br />

printer's fusing temperature (approximately 374° F, or 190° C). Do not<br />

use media with colored coating that was added after the media was<br />

produced.<br />

The printer cannot detect the color of media you are using. Varying<br />

the shade or color of the media can change the shades of the printed<br />

colors.<br />

Media to Avoid<br />

Follow these guidelines to avoid poor print quality or damage to the<br />

Do not use media that contains embossing.<br />

Do not use media with cutouts or perforations.<br />

Do not use multi-part forms.<br />

Do not use media with irregularities, such as tabs or staples.<br />

Do not use preprinted media that contains thermography or inks<br />

that melt, vaporize, or release hazardous emissions when<br />

subjected to the fusing temperature (approximately 374° F, or<br />

190° C).<br />

Do not use any media that produces hazardous emissions, melts,<br />

offsets, or discolors when heated to the printer's fusing<br />

temperatures (approximately 374° F, or 190° C).<br />

Do not use media that has already been through a photocopier or<br />

printer, even if there is no printing on the page.<br />

Do not use media with a watermark if solid fill areas are to be<br />

printed.<br />

Do not use transparencies designed for ink jet printers.<br />
