Country Profiles survey Among those who are working, people with intellectual disabilities are most often employed in sheltered workshops or doing volunteer work. Figure 6: Policies or legislation to promote employment on people with disabilities. Country Profiles survey While many high and some low income countries reported that there is legislation or policy that promote the employment of people with disabilities, respondents commented that those policies have been ineffective and poorly implemented. Where there has been some employment progress it usually is for people with mild physical disabilities e.g. a person with low vision.
