A length of 3 cm in the mixing region is an estimate based on CFD calculations22 (see<br />

p. 70) . The temperature of the gas was varied between the range of 1000 to 1500 K in<br />

a parameter study. The diameter profile and the flow rate profile vary in the 3-cm<br />

mixing region. The fuel and oxidizer streams have a 1:1 flow ratio, with their sum<br />

being a value of 2 l/min, which is 16.667 cm 3 /s for each stream. The oxidizer stream<br />

volumetric flow rate is brought up from zero to 16.6667 over the 3-cm mixing region.<br />

Figure 2-49 shows the increase in mass attributed to the effect of the side inlet flow.<br />

At the exit, the predicted NO concentration has a peak near 1250 K, similar to<br />
