3.1.1 Two-Stage Catalytic Combustor<br />

3.1.1.1 Problem description<br />

For this problem, we need to design a virtually zero-NO x combustor for a sub-scale<br />

test unit of our micro-turbine system. This new combustor must also match several<br />

gas turbine inlet specifications to optimize the overall system performance under fullload,<br />

steady-state operation. A typical gas turbine flow capacity chart is shown in<br />

Figure 3-1. The combustor-related design specifications normally include total mass<br />

flow rate of the gas turbine system and the turbine rotor inlet temperature, TRIT.<br />
