rate shall be for the cum of the teak wood used for the frame including the cost of hold fast, screw<br />
fixing, finishing etc. complete as specified.<br />
Item No 6 Providing and fixing ready-made fully panelled door shutters with 'C' class hard wood<br />
styles and rails con<strong>form</strong>ing to IS: 1003-1991 edition with chemically treated pressure treatment as per<br />
IS: 401-1990 and kiln seasoned as per IS: 1141-1993, 12 mm thick teak wood particle board bonded<br />
with phenol pharmaldehyde synthetic resin as panels having commercial veneer on both faces and<br />
painted with pink wood primer etc. complete with one coat of primer and 2 coats of synthetic enamel<br />
paint.<br />
b) 35 mm Style.<br />
3.1 General : The item pertains to providing and fixing the ready-made full panelled shutters for<br />
doors, with specified thickness of style and rails, and panels of phenol bonded teak wood particle<br />
board, with veneer facing on both sides and finishing the same with French polish or oil paint.<br />
3.2 Material :<br />
Indian Teak Wood : The Teak wood shall be seasoned wood. It shall be free from decay,<br />
rotten portion, termite or other insects, damaged portion. The wood section used for frame shall be<br />
used from the heart of the teak tree of matured growth. It shall be of uni<strong>form</strong> substance, straight fibres<br />
and shall be free from cluster knots, flaws, bends, warp, or defect of any other kind. The Teak wood<br />
shall be of uni<strong>form</strong> colour and grains and well seasoned. The sizes of styles and rails shall be as<br />
specified after plaining.<br />
Fixtures and Fastening : The scale of fixtures and fastening shall be as indicated in the<br />
table for the corresponding type of door. All fixtures shall be paid separately. The wood shall be<br />
of C class hard wood con<strong>form</strong>ing to IS: 1003. The panels shall be of 12 mm thick teak wood<br />
particle board bonded with phenol pharmaldehyde synthetic resin having commercial<br />
veneer on both faces.<br />
3.3 Construction : The door shutter shall be single or double leaf. The sizes of shutters shall be<br />
as per drawing unless otherwise specified or as directed. The horizontal rails and styles shall be<br />
shown in approved drawing but shall not be generally less than 100 mm unless specified. The lock<br />
rail and bottom rail shall not be less than 150 mm unless specified. The joints of shutter frame i.e. rails<br />
& styles shall be tongue and groove type with sizes of groove and tongue equivalent size of rail and<br />
style. Two holes shall be drilled at each joint wooden pegs shall be driven to bring fixity to joints. The<br />
groove in rails and styles shall not be less than 15 mm deep and the thickness of panel at the edge<br />
shall not be less than ½ of the thickness of panel. The panels shall be of pattern and size as per the<br />
drawings or as directed by the Engineer in charge. Wherever possible each panel shall be in a single<br />
width piece. But where two pieces have to be used and are permitted, both of them shall be of equal<br />
width. The panels shall have beaded edges on both sides.<br />
The finishing of corners of raised panel edges shall be done as shown on drawings or<br />
as directed by the Engineer-in charge. Ventilator if provided shall be top hung or pivoted as<br />
shown on the, drawing or directed by the Engineer in charge and shall be finished similar to the<br />
door. The ready-made shutters shall be chemically pressure treated as per IS:401.<br />
3.4 Finishing : The wood work shall be applied with three coats of French polishing or oilpainting<br />
as mentioned as specified or as directed. The varnishing or French polishing shall be done<br />
or synthetic enamel painting shall be done in two coats of approved make and shade of paint<br />
over one coat of primer of approved make as specified by the Engineer in Charge. The iron<br />
bars of ventilators if provided shall be finished with two coats of oil paint of approved shade.<br />
3.5 Item to Include : The item includes 'C' class hard wood, partical board panels all labour,<br />
materials and equipment to provide and fix the readymade shutters for the doors as specified. It also<br />
includes finishing of the wood work and iron bars when provided including painting with one coat of<br />
pink wood primer and two coats of synthetic enamel paints. The fixtures shall be paid separately.<br />
