the dismantled material, the Engineer in Charge has the rights to either penalise or recover the cost of<br />

material from the amounts payable to the contractor.<br />

2.3 Safety Measures : All demolition work shall be carried out safely using procedures, which do not<br />

cause injuries to any person engaged in demolition work and nearby structures. Contractor shall<br />

provide proper devices to the workmen like safety belts, helmets, goggles etc. to prevent injures to the<br />

workmen. The safety of workmen is the responsibility of the contractor and the compensation for<br />

injuries or deaths shall be made by the contractor as per the prevailing acts and rules.<br />

2.4 Stacking of Dismantled Materials : All dismantled materials shall be stacked in neat piles at<br />

location shown by the Engineer-in-charge. Recovered materials from demolition shall be stacked size<br />

wise. Similarly all fixtures, wind ties etc. shall be stacked separately. Ridges, gutters and other special<br />

materials shall be stacked so that accounting is possible. In case Engineer-in-charge so desires, he<br />

may instruct the contractor to transport the material to MIDC stores, and lead charges for the same<br />

shall be deemed to have been included under relevant items in the contract. The bricks shall be<br />

stacked in measurable heaps as directed.<br />

2.5 Disposal : Dismantled items, which are not reusable or broken during demolition and other<br />

disposable materials etc. shall be disposed off as per the directions of the Engineer-in-charge.<br />

2.6 Item to Include : The item includes dismantling the BB Masonry in lime or cement mortar of walls<br />

of any structure, with appropriate tools and equipment, scaffolding if required, material, labour,<br />

transporting the material to the location and stacking / disposing the material as directed by the<br />

Engineer-in-charge.<br />

2.7 Mode of Measurement and Payment : The measurement of the actual volume of the BB Masonry<br />

to be dismantled, in cum, shall be taken before the actual work of demolition starts.<br />

Payment shall be made on the basis of volume of the BB Masonry dismantled, at the contract rate is<br />

per cum. No deductions for the breakage of bricks shall be made if such breakages are unavoidable<br />

in opinion of the Engineer-in-charge. Deductions for the breakage shall be made if they are due to<br />

negligence or mishandling the material even during transporting or stacking. The decision of the<br />

Engineer-incharge, regarding deduction shall be final.<br />

Item No 19 Removing doors and windows with frames & shutters fixed in position and stacking<br />

them with all leads and lifts as directed.<br />

6.1 General : The item pertains to removal of all doors and windows with frames & shutters in all<br />

materials like timber, aluminum, steel etc. along with shutters & stacked as per directions of the<br />

Engineer-incharge, with all leads and lifts.<br />

6.2 Demolition Procedure : Generally the doors and windows shall be removed along with the<br />

dismantling work of brick or stone masonry, sheds etc.. However in case of some works for renovation<br />

and alterations the existing doors and windows may have to be replaced. In either case the removal of<br />

doors and windows shall have to be done carefully and before breaking of the brick or stone masonry.<br />

The shutters of heavy doors and windows may be removed first for ease of handling. The frames shall<br />

be removed by breaking the bricks or stones at the likely locations of the fasteners of the frame.<br />

stacked separately with the markings of sizes and numbering as directed and returned to the MIDC<br />

stores or disposed off as per directions of the Engineer-in-charge.<br />
