In some areas, decreased rainfall can:<br />

Cause drought, increasing the<br />

severity of <strong>for</strong>est fires.<br />

Reduce overall <strong>for</strong>est<br />

productivity, species<br />

diversity and prevent natural<br />

regeneration<br />

In other areas, rainfall may increase.<br />

It may be possible to plant and<br />

grow trees in areas that have not<br />

been <strong>for</strong>ested be<strong>for</strong>e.<br />

The <strong>for</strong>est may become<br />

more productive, resulting in<br />

increased biodiversity.<br />

In some areas, increasing temperature can:<br />

Cause heat stress, which can kill<br />

trees.<br />

Increase the lifespan of <strong>for</strong>est<br />

pests and accelerate the spread<br />

of invasive species.<br />

In other areas, decreasing temperature can:<br />

Make it possible to grow new<br />

crops, which can be used in agro<strong>for</strong>estry<br />

systems.<br />

Reduce the risk of <strong>for</strong>est fire.<br />
