Mobile installation procedure<br />

2 Strip 10 mm (3/8”) of insulation from the wires you exposed in "Step C: Connect the<br />

SharpX CAT5e cable to the LPR Processing Unit" on page 99 (drain wire has no insulation),<br />

push in the tension clamps with your screwdriver, insert the wires, then release<br />

the clamps. Gently tug the wires to make sure they are secure.<br />

Insert screwdriver and push<br />

to open the pole’s tension<br />

clamp. Remove screwdriver<br />

to close clamp.<br />

While clamp is open,<br />

insert wire here.<br />

Drain wire.<br />

Tinned copper.<br />

Red wire.<br />

Grey wire. (see Note)<br />

Yellow wire. (see Note)<br />

NOTE Maintain twisting of the grey and yellow wires until 10 mm (3/8”) from the<br />

connector.<br />

3 Repeat these steps for your other SharpX camera(s) as needed.<br />

Step E: Connect the SharpX cable to the SharpX camera<br />

This section shows you how to connect the SharpX cable to the SharpX camera.<br />

CAUTION Secure and tighten the cable connector to the SharpX camera, otherwise water<br />

may leak into the camera.<br />

IMPORTANT<br />

Black wire.<br />

• Do not tighten the cable by turning the cable cord.<br />

• Do not turn the cable from behind the outer ring.<br />

• Do not use any tools to tighten the cable.<br />

1 Remove the plastic protector cap from the camera.<br />

2 Put dielectric gel on the cable connector threads.<br />

3 Align the notch on the cable connector with the notch on the camera port.<br />

4 Attach the cable to the SharpX camera.<br />

5 Align the connector threads and tighten the connector by turning the outer connector<br />

ring clockwise.<br />

6 Tighten the connector as much as possible by hand. Don’t use a wrench or other tool to<br />

tighten it.<br />

Step F: Connect the LPR Processing Unit to the computer<br />

Connect the LPR Processing Unit to the in-vehicle computer using the provided Ethernet<br />

cable.<br />
