186 With Love to Muhammad sa the Khātam-un-Nabiyyīn<br />

ِٕ الْمَلٰ‏ ۤ ىكَةُ‏ طَ‏ يّ‏<br />

اذلَّ‏ ‏ِيْنَ‏ تَتَوَفّ‏ ‏ٰىهُمُ‏<br />

ِٕ الْمَلٰ‏ ۤ ىكَةُ‏ ظَ‏ ۤ الِمِىْ‏ اَنْفُسِ‏ هِمْ‏<br />

اذلَّ‏ ‏ِيْنَ‏ تَتَوَفّ‏ ‏ٰىهُمُ‏<br />

‏ِبِينْ‏ َ<br />

Thus Ibn-e-‘Abbās, may Allāh be pleased with him,<br />

believed that Jesus as had died. Our readers must be<br />

aware that Ibn-e-‘Abbās was among the foremost of<br />

those who comprehended the Holy Qur’ān perfectly.<br />

The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be<br />

upon him) had prayed for him that he might be<br />

bestowed true knowledge of the Holy Qur’ān. 193<br />

At another place, he writes:<br />

It is for this purpose that Imām Bukhārī (may Allāh<br />

have mercy on him), has quoted the verse:<br />

فَلَمَّا تَوَفَّيْتَنىِ‏ ْ كُنْتَ‏ اَنْتَ‏ الرَّقِيْبَ‏ عَلَيهْ‏ ‏ِمْ‏<br />

in Kitāb-ut-Tafsīr. In so doing, he intended to convey<br />

that the correct interpretation of the word tawaffaitanī<br />

is the one which the Holy Prophet (peace and<br />

blessings of Allāh be upon him) attributed to it, that<br />
