Presbyterian Church in America
(Canadian Section)
Canadian congregations of the Reformed
Presbyterian Church, Evangelical Synod,
became a part of the Presbyterian Church in
America when the RPCES joined PCA in June
1982. Some of the churches were in predecessor
bodies of the RPCES, which was the product of
a 1965 merger of the Reformed Presbyterian
Church in North America, General Synod and the
Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Others came
into existence later as a part of the home missions
work of RPCES. Congregations are located
in seven provinces, and the PCA is continuing
church extension work in Canada. The denomination
is committed to world evangelization and
to a continuation of historic Presbyterianism. Its
officers are required to subscribe to the
Reformed faith as set forth in the Westminster
Confession of Faith and Catechisms.
