is a Fundamentalist multidenominational organization<br />
whose purposes are to provide information,<br />
encouragement, <strong>and</strong> assistance to<br />
Bible-believing churches, fellowships, <strong>and</strong><br />
individuals; to preserve our Christian heritage<br />
through exposure <strong>of</strong>, opposition to, <strong>and</strong> separation<br />
from doctrinal impurity <strong>and</strong> compromise<br />
in current religious trends <strong>and</strong> movements; to<br />
protect churches from religious <strong>and</strong> political<br />
restrictions, subtle or obvious, that would hinder<br />
their ministries for Christ; <strong>and</strong> to promote<br />
obedience to the inerrant Word <strong>of</strong> God.<br />
Founded in 1941, The <strong>American</strong> Council <strong>of</strong><br />
Christian <strong>Churches</strong> (ACCC) is a multi-denominational<br />
agency for fellowship <strong>and</strong> cooperation<br />
among Bible-believing churches in various<br />
denominations- fellowships, Bible Presbyterian<br />
Church, Evangelical Methodist Church,<br />

(formerly Bible Protestant), Free Presbyterian<br />
Church <strong>of</strong> North America, Fundamental<br />

independent churches. The total membership<br />
nears 2 million. Each denomination retains its<br />
identity <strong>and</strong> full autonomy, but cannot be associated<br />
with the World Council <strong>of</strong> <strong>Churches</strong>,<br />
National Council <strong>of</strong> <strong>Churches</strong> or National<br />
Association <strong>of</strong> Evangelicals.<br />

religious affiliation. Attempts to relieve human<br />
suffering <strong>and</strong> find new approaches to world<br />
peace <strong>and</strong> social justice through nonviolence.<br />
Work in 22 countries includes development <strong>and</strong><br />
refugee relief, peace education, <strong>and</strong> community<br />
organizing. Sponsors <strong>of</strong>f-the-record seminars<br />
around the world to build better international<br />
underst<strong>and</strong>ing. Conducts programs with U.S.<br />
communities on the problems <strong>of</strong> minority<br />
groups such as housing, employment, <strong>and</strong><br />
denial <strong>of</strong> legal rights. Maintains Washington,<br />
D.C. <strong>of</strong>fice to present AFSC experience <strong>and</strong><br />
perspectives to policymakers. The Quaker<br />
United Nations <strong>of</strong>fices in New York City <strong>and</strong><br />
Geneva, Switzerl<strong>and</strong> arrange seminars, testimony<br />
before UN committees <strong>and</strong> behind-thescence<br />
discussions with UN delegates. Seeks to<br />
build informed public resistance to militarism.<br />
A co-recipient <strong>of</strong> the Noble Peace Prize.<br />
Programs are multiracial, non-denominational,<br />
