Evangelical Fellowship of Canada
The Fellowship was formed in 1964. There
are 31 denominations, 124 organizations, 1,200
local churches and 11,000 individual members.
Its purposes are, “Fellowship in the gospel”
(Phil. Ch.1 vs.5), “the defence and confirmation
of the gospel” (Phil. Ch.1 vs.7) and “the
furtherance of the gospel” (Phil. Ch.1 vs.12).
The Fellowship believes the Holy Scriptures,
as originally given, are infallible and that salvation
through the Lord Jesus Christ is by faith
apart from works.In national and regional conventions
the Fellowship urges Christians to live
exemplary lives and to openly challenge the
evils and injustices of society. It encourages
cooperation with various agencies in Canada
and overseas that are sensitive to social and
spiritual needs.The Evangelical Fellowship of
Canada (EFC) is the national association of
evangelical Christians in Canada. It gathers
Evangelicals together for impact, influence and
identity in ministry and public witness. Since
1964 the EFC has provided a national forum
for Evangelicals and a constructive voice for
biblical principles in life and society. The EFC
affiliates include denominations, ministry organizations,
educational institutions and individual
congregations, who uphold a common
statement of faith. The EFC also has more than
15,000 supporting individuals.

Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship
of Canada
Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship is a nonprofit,
interdenominational student movement
centering on the witness to Jesus Christ in campus
communities, universities, colleges and
high schools and through a Canada-wide
Pioneer Camping program.
IVCF was officially formed in 1928-29 by
the late Dr. Howard Guinness, whose arrival
from Britain challenged students to follow the
example of the British Inter-Varsity Fellowship
by organizing themselves into prayer and Bible
study fellowship groups. Inter-Varsity has
always been a student-initiated movement
emphasizing and developing leadership in the
campus to call Christians to outreach, challenging
other students to a personal faith in
Jesus Christ and studying the Bible as God’s
revealed truth within a fellowship of believers.
A strong stress has been placed on missionary
activity, and the triennial conference held at
Urbana, IL. (jointly sponsored by U.S. and
Canadian IVCF) has been a means of challenging
many young people to service in Christian
vocations. Inter-Varsity works closely with and
is a strong believer in the work of local and
national churches.
