North American Baptist Fellowship
Organized in 1964, the North American
Baptist Fellowship is a voluntary organization
of Baptist Conventions in Canada and the
United States, functioning as a regional body
within the Baptist World Alliance. Its objectives
are, (a) to promote fellowship and cooperation
among Baptists in North America and (b) to further
the aims and objectives of the Baptist
World Alliance so far as these affect the life of
the Baptist churches in North America. Its
membership, however, is not identical with the
North American membership of the Baptist
World Alliance.
Church membership of the Fellowship bodies
is more than 28 million.
The NABF assembles representatives of the
member bodies once a year for exchange of
information and views in such fields as evangelism
and education, missions, stewardship promotion,
lay activities and theological education.
It conducts occasional consultations for denominational
leaders on such subjects as church
extension. It encourages cooperation at the city
and county level where churches of more than
one member group are located.
