The armual Alumni Club Golf
Totirnament was held the foUowing
day at the QuaU Creek Country Club
with eight Phis participating. Dan
Nielsen, Illinois '52, won the trophy
and shot a hole-in-one on the 144-
yard 8"' hole.
HOUSTON
On March 25, the club had its
annual Foimders Day banquet. Our
keynote speaker was Dr. William
Scale, Southwestern '61. White House
historian and recognized restoration
expert. Following the keynote
address, Howard Young, past
president of the General CouncU,
conducted the ceremonies.
Golden Legionnaires were:
Charles C. Sublett, Sellers J. Thomas
Jr., and Jay J. Perreten. Six other
alumru were eligible for the Golden
Legion award, but they could not
attend.
The Houston Alruimi Club
expresses its appreciation to Gregory
J. Soska, former director of alumni
services, for his help and advice.
MILWAUKEE
The Milwaukee Alunmi Club
celebrated Founders Day April 22 at
the Town Club in Fox Point. Attorney
John K. Maclver, Wisconsin '53,
the Wisconsin chairman of the Bush/
Quayle campaign, was our speaker.
Thirty members enjoyed the evening.
Golden Legionnaires were:

NASHVILLE
On March 24, the
Nashville Alumni Club
observed Founders Day at
the University Club at
VanderbiU. More than 100
Phis enjoyed the fine evening.
President Bill Estes welcomed
everyone and introduced Province
President Gary Wade who discussed
issues that face the Fraternity.
Brother Wade presided over the
Golden Legion ceremony, inducting

The Steven D. Welch Award went
to Blythe Bailey. To close the
evening, Clinton Joiner introduced
the outstanding class of new
Tennnessee Alpha initiates and
presented the Best Senior Award to
Paul Nations, the Best Phikeia
Award to Peter Cassidy, and the
John S. Medant Sportsmanship
Award to Philip Fischer. The
Nashville Club is already looking
forward to celebrating Tennessee
Alpha's 146* anniversary.
NORTHEASTERN OHIO
Our Founders Day was held May
8 at the Paul E. Martin Uruversity
Club at 9 AM. After a buffet breakfast.
we inducted oiu" Golden and SUver
Legiormaries and PaUadians. We also
recogriized a Diamond Legionnafre:
Sherman Hasbrouck, Pittsburgh '21.
Brother Don Demkee, Akron '60;
was awarded the fifth annual W.
Richard Wright Outstanding Alumni
Award for his many generous
contributions to Phi Delta Theta and
his alma mater.
Our speaker was Dr. Robert
Deloian, General Council member-atlarge.
Bill Turanchik served as
master of ceremonies, and Chip
Billow presided over the Legion
ceremonies. Jim Ruby presented a
very inspirational Founders Day
message on "The Bond Fidelity."
AU Phi Delt brothers in the
greater Akron area are invited to

NORTHERN NEVADA
On March 27, the Northern
Nevada Phi Delta Theta Alumni
Club held their Founders Day at the
Littie Waldorf Grill in Reno, Nevada.
Brother Alan Glover, Omicron East
province president, inducted Brother
Winthrop Dale, Idaho '46 into the
Golden Legion. Mr. Dale told of his
father who taught at Miami University,
and who later went on to
become president of the University
of Idaho. While in Oxford, the Dale
famUy Uved in what is currently the
offices for the chapter consultants.
Brother William Van Arsdale,
Cornell '36, was recognized as a
PaUadian. Brother Clarence M. Skau
Jr., Michigan '50; and Roger
Bergmann, Willamette '66, were
inducted into the Silver Legion.
TORONTO
The Ontario Alpha Annual Golf
Tournament wiU be held on Saturday,
September 11,1993. This year
we wiU be combining the event with
Ontario Beta's Tournament. Reserve
