The chapter has continued to improve. This
year we have been able to strengthen our
brotherhood and minimize conflicts within the
chapter. We are heading into next year with a
renewed commitmentto strengthen Illinois Beta
ouractivities on rush and improving relations with
our neighbors and alumni. Our newly elected
61071.The weekend of April 2-4 found Phi Delta
Theta's Illinois Eta chapter celebrating its 100"
anniversary! Approximately 100alumni and
guests retumed to the Champaign-Urbana
weekend. In addition, we were honored to have
Robert (Fitz) Fitzpatrick, the warden of the
International Fratemity as the featured speaker.
Alttiough many guests an-ived Friday night, the
real activities kicked off Saturday morning with a
delicious bmnch puttogether by Brothers Brian
Good and Steve Auer at the chapter house,
Immediatelyfollowingthe brunch ashorttourof
our newly renovated house began. New initiate
and historian-elect Brother Darren Benjamin put
together a wonderful display of photos, rush
pamphlets, and other memorabilia from the past
forthe alumni to peruse during the social hour.
The House Association convened a meeting in the
afternoon to discuss business and to hear a report
from chapterpresident, Mike Mahoney,
The evening got off to an early start with hors
d'oeuvres atthe house. The crowd then boarded
awaiting buses fortransportation to Jumer's
Brother Fitzpatrick delivered the keynote address.
Brothers Ted Mesiacos and Benjamin conducted
aslide show detailing Illinois Eta'srich and proud
100-yearhistory,
Perhaps the two best things to come from the
event were the myriad of stories from the alumni
and, as event co-coordinator Brother Auer put it,
"It was good forthe actives to see just how
supportive our alumni are and how much Phi
Delta Theta means to them!"—T, Chapin Rose
