<strong>The</strong> only child to survive infancy of Travers and Efiary (~oniphah)<br />
Cooke was Colonel John Cooke (1755-1 819) who married on November<br />
18, 1784, Mary Thomson I%son, daughter of the Ronorable bbrge<br />
Pason (1725-1792) of Gunston HaJ$. Colonel Cooke was possessed<br />
of a very handsome estate including Ylarlborough which acqubcd<br />
from the Bbrcera. Colonel and Mrs. Cooke had a lorge family of children<br />
but I will mention only their daughter Smah Ikson Cooke (1791-<br />
1861 ) who, as the widow of Wilson Cary Selden (1772-1822) of<br />
Salvington, mied secondly on llrrrch 15, 1825 her cousin Doctor<br />
Robert &borne Grays on (1789-1 841 ), grandson of Colonel William<br />
Bronough (1730-1800) a& I4zu-y Doniphan, his second wife, mentioned<br />
on page 220. <strong>The</strong>ir son was Doctor John Cooke <strong>Grayson</strong> (1832-1 E74)<br />
of Salubria, Cd.pepe~ County and he was the father of the late<br />
Ad&& Gary Travers <strong>Grayson</strong> (1876-193$), personal plqysician of -'..ci2:li<br />
President Woodrow Wilson and president of the American Red Cross.<br />
