is GRAYSON and just below and adjoining NZ!d POST is the well known plantation<br />

of Gov. Alexander Spotawood (1676-1740) lying at the mouth of Ihssaponnax<br />

Creek. NEW PET is si:own on present day naps at the intersection<br />

of Route 17 to Tappahannock and Route 2 to Bouling Green ad Richmond.<br />

John <strong>Grayson</strong> was established in Spotsylvania County when the county<br />

was formed and he purchased land in this county from William Smith which<br />

lay upon hhssaponax Creek. I& ray have also gotten Crown gram for<br />

land in this locality.<br />

I, JOHN GRAYSON died intestate in Spotsylvcnin Col, Va, 1735-1736<br />

survived by his widow Susanna, (Estate Spots. Co., Gill Book-A,<br />

p. 270) Susannah <strong>Grayson</strong> admx. of John <strong>Grayson</strong> decd. with Ambrose<br />

<strong>Grayson</strong> and Thomas Hi11 sec., 3hr. 2, 1735-36, John Gordon, Francis<br />

Taliafarro,. Francis Turnly were appraisers.<br />
