Prince rlil.liam Ca. Va., in -' 1740. he attended the cniversity -.f Penn. at Fhiladelphia;
p11rsr:ed classicz' studies in Snpland, and was greducte$ fro.^ the University of
Wcrd; studled law at tke Ten-le in Iondon! returned to Va. and practiced law
in r e D ring the Revolutionary fiar he was appointed Aide-28-camp to
General ,iashinf;ton Hug. 24. 1776; commissioned Colonel of a Virginia Regiment
Jan. 1, 1777; distinguished himself at the 15attle of Yarmouth in 1778; member
of the Eozird of aar in l7PO and 1711; memter of the C~r~tinental Congress 17F4-17P7;
dele~ate to the Virginia convention of 1788: for the adoption of t1.e Federal
Constitutjon, whicb be ay-osed; elected to the United Ztates Senate, and served
froril Larch k, 1789, until his death in Iiumfries, Virginia, ].'arch l2, 1790; interment
