A letter from you dated Aug. 6. 1.V47, states that it would be neceesary to<br />

know the name of the county in which the <strong>Grayson</strong> family lived before you could<br />

furnish any possible inf ormati on.<br />

1 wish to learn something of the family of zemge dashingLon <strong>Grayson</strong> who was<br />

born in Greenup County, Kentucky, on 20, Cct, 1€Q3 and was there reared and<br />

educsted. He is said to have removed in 1837 to Eissouri, becoming one of the<br />

piorleers of the Platte purchase there. He died 1888 , Jefferson Co. Kans,<br />

His father was said to be also George Washington <strong>Grayson</strong>, who had a wife<br />

tlOctaviatl in 1903, in Kentucky,<br />

'kere is a story told tic the effect that this man was kllled by I~ldians while<br />

crossi.ng the river in r; can* going from Virginia into Ky, date or place<br />

unkntwn.<br />

I enclose a copy of a letter received today which seems to hear out the statement<br />

that George ri. C.ray.cn was the son of George W. <strong>Grayson</strong> who was the son of ililliam I<br />

<strong>Grayson</strong>, tut I need proof, what I particularg wish is data on George H. <strong>Grayson</strong><br />

Sr., He is said to have been from Fauquier County, Virglnia to Yentucky.<br />

you tell me If the recard t,e sent is the same as I wo~ld receive fran the Land<br />
