<strong>The</strong> Computer has placed each requested surname spelling variation<br />

separately in alphabetical sequence by first name. For example:<br />

NOTICE that there is no spacing<br />

between spelling variations.<br />

TWO TYPES of entries are contained in your Computer Search:<br />

1. Entries from CENSUS RECORDS, as shown in tho example:<br />

BAKER, ABRAHAM RENSSELAER CO. NY 871 00110-00100-01 1800<br />

<strong>The</strong>se entries all have a census year in the far right hand column.<br />

Sometimes the year is prefixed with letters. For example: 51803<br />

<strong>The</strong>se are codes for the following:<br />

$=STATE CENSUS<br />

T-TERRITORIAL CENSUS<br />

CL-COLON 1 AL CENSUS<br />

CTcCONTINENTAL CENSUS<br />

To understand an entr from a census record, match the census year<br />

with those shorn in rKe TmLE or coanuTs. rum to pago number<br />

indicated for an explanation of the entry.<br />

t. Entries from BIOGRAPHICAL and other sources. For example:<br />

BAKER, GEORGE F. LANCASTER CO. PA 681 BfOCAn<br />

<strong>The</strong> far right hand column shows a lqBIO1l or "POW prefixed code.<br />

This means that we have indexed a Biography or a Portrait on<br />

this individual. We can not provide copies of tkis information<br />

at this time.However, we will be publishing in the future an<br />

index which will help you locate such information. Hatch for<br />

future adds introducing this volume.
