April, - The boundary line, beginning at a place called
1727 Point Comfort, was approved between the two
colonies.
1769 First settlers into western North Carolina
(now Tennessee) .
December, - The 36-30 parallel became the division line
1776 between the two colonies.
November, - People in western North Carolina adopted a
1785 constitution and declared themselves the
State of Franklin, or Frankland,
1788 - State of Franklin went out of existence.
February, - North Carolina conveyed to the United States
1790 soil and sovereignty of the western lands of the
State of North Carolina.
April, - United States accepted; Tennessee created.
