<strong>The</strong> National Intelli~encer of 4 June 1829 is quoted in 48 NGSQ 84 as follows:<br />

Captain William <strong>Grayson</strong>, aged 97, died 17 May in Albemarle<br />

County, Va. He was born 25 Nov. 1732 i n Spotsylvania Co.Va.<br />

In early life he was a soldier being in Forbes' s campaign<br />

in 1758 i n an expedition to Fort Pitt (now Pittsburgh) to<br />

expel the French and Indians from that part of the country.<br />

During rllost of the Revolution he was also actively engaged,<br />

mostly as a ranger, and had frequent skirmishes with the<br />

Indians.<br />
