In the same memoradm, it was stated that lJiUiam Gordon,<br />
brother of his father, John Gordon 111 (1774-1024) was born in i!ytlle<br />
Co., Feb. 21, 1779,<br />
Wytha Go., Va, is near lbntgomery Go., erected 1770, and only<br />
the small county of Pulcs:d (1839) 190s between 1,Iytl.l~ and F:ontll;ornery,<br />
ar.d probably Pulaski caw off of ;.!ontgo~cry. At any rate, all of<br />
these counties and Kentucky cane off of Firlcastle Go., Va, extinct<br />
in 177,<br />

was in the Chpl-oltee cmpaign,<br />
John Gragson prcduced his certificate to the County Court of<br />
Pincastle for making 50'70 poun::ls of tobacco in 1773, PincastJe<br />

Clapboard Creek, a branch of Jew River, in I~lontgumory,<br />

Xis son, John <strong>Grayson</strong>, Jr., on IVov., 1729 received a grant<br />
in 14ontgomery 013 TJcw tl3,vc.r below ths mouth of Clapboard Creek.<br />

On Jan. 2, 1800, Sohn <strong>Grayson</strong> made his will, proved ut the<br />
October term 1202. 1;ontgarnory Will Rook I, p. 156) I have here a<br />
pliotosta-1; of the record of this will. IIe desired that he be buried<br />
nezr where his late deceesod wife lies interred; he states tho% his<br />
eldest daughters Betty and Lucy have already received a11 and everything<br />
he ever designed or intended far then to hve, and gives to b-is<br />
youngest son John <strong>Grayson</strong>, Jrr for the tern of 3 years, and no longer,<br />
oll his estatx; and at the expiration of 3 yesrs the w1:ole estate is<br />
to be divided betxeen his children: John to take the Cnthole survey,<br />
and another tract held by testator in partnership with William !'~1 of<br />
1Jytho County lying on F'all Benks of I4ew River ad the negro girl Judah,<br />
and the remainder of the estate to be ccjuallj divided among his 4<br />
children: John, Jilliilm, ;kry and Nancy,<br />
Japes Gordon is a wit~ess to this w ill (be was the son of John<br />
