Are you aware of lT"Tc Grayson IIousel' on Sixth
Street mear Yab, Louisville, Kentucky. It was
built by John Gwnthncy before 1810, sturdily and
with detailetl care, of bricks hrought down the
river on keelboats from the Eyst. It was the
first brick house built in Lo~:isvillo, and was on
the si.t,e of an anc:ient Indian mound and was sli-ghtly --
elevated. O r i ~ nail-7, i it V J s ~ swrollnded by extensive
grounds whtch led dorm to tlGraysonls Lake1! where
t,hor~ wore parties and pic~rics in the smner and
ice skating in the winter, A few years later, it
was os.rnccl by the Frederick Grayson family. (~~ho
were -they) It has been years since my mother
lived in Loui:iville, but it ~ ould be nice tb think
that such a historic structure stil-L stands.
