The <strong>City</strong> receives three types <strong>of</strong> annual funding<br />
from the US Department <strong>of</strong> Housing and<br />
Urban Development (HUD):<br />
Community Development Block Grant<br />
For community projects that primarily<br />
benefit low income population<br />
HOME<br />
Funds for affordable housing<br />
Shelter Plus<br />
Funds to serve homeless individuals suffering<br />
from substance abuse, mental illness,<br />
or both.<br />
The <strong>City</strong> also maintains a portfolio <strong>of</strong> loans<br />
made to low income homeowners at subsidized<br />
interest rates.<br />
